Chapter 17

Ezra

The whole room went silent for minutes after Brielle's announcement.

She had a sister? Who was out there all alone? That was why she was at such a stage when we captured her. We had thwarted her plans to find the one person who was most important to her.

"A sister?" Valor asked, breaking the silence.

"Why is your sister not in the facility?" Wynn questioned.

"Because the Council did not capture her. They only got me," Brielle replied.

"We need more information," Alaric stated.

"When the Council found us, my sister and I hid, and my father faced the councilmen alone. After he was killed, we buried him and took the truck to continue running from the Council. Our truck was ambushed by wolves and one of them took my sister. Before they could take me, the Council agents found us and the wolves fled, leaving me behind as prey to the Council." she explained.

"If werewolves hunted your sister, why do you think she's still alive?" Alaric asked.

"Because Omegas are too valuable just to be killed for a meal. I planned to go back to that forest to search for her. I should at least find something even if they sold her out," she replied.

"You witnessing your father's death and your missing sister might just be what we need to rally the packs. I'm grateful for your honesty, Brielle," Wynn said.

"Plus, the videos and recording, we should have several packs ready to support our claims. We would begin to make plans," Alaric added.

"Ezra, you and your team should continue to gather more evidence. Do not overlook anything," Wynn commanded.

I rose and nodded in acknowledgement then he crossed over to Brielle's end and we surrounded her, showing our support as her mates.

"Good work all of you. You should leave to attend to your affairs," Wynn continued.

"It was nice spending the day with you Brielle. We should do it more often," Isolde said.

Brielle nodded and gave Isolde a small smile.

Valor and Korren clutched each of her hands and led her toward the door while I followed behind.

As Valor's hand closed around the door handle, we heard Wynn's voice call, "Brielle."

She looked back at the sound of her name and made eye contact with Wynn.

"We will support and protect you in every way we can as a pack. You can trust us. This is a vow." Wynn declared.

A vow from an Alpha was sacred. Wynn knew that, yet he had given it to Brielle.

I watched as Brielle's eyes filled with years she had not allowed to fall. Then she dipped her chin in greeting and whispered in a raspy voice, "Thank you."

Valor opened the door, and we all went out.

"Let's go home," Korren said, pulling Brielle closer to his side for a hug.

"We need to get ready for the pack run."

"What pack run?" Brielle asked, her voice muffled from Korren's chest.

"It's an important event we do monthly. Most times on the full moon, we shift as a pack and run together to connect our wolves," I explained as we walked home.
